Why BCAP?

BCAP Summer Camp Benefits

Safety

Campers need to feel that counselors will look out for them and genuinely value their contributions. BCAP Summer Camp provides an environment that tends to the physical, emotional, and creative well being of each and every camper. Adults and children can trust that counselors are prepared, approachable, and responsible.

BCAP Summer Camp is licensed by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and is inspected twice yearly. All counselors have been First Aid/CPR certified. Camp groups have access to emergency and security personnel at all Heart of Brooklyn institutions. The Camp Director also maintains contact with parents regarding the well being of each child before, during, and after camp begins.

Affordability

BCAP Summer Camp offers a premium, one-of-a-kind experience developed by experts in their fields utilizing the resources of some of Brooklyn's greatest cultural institutions for a low cost.

BCAP Summer Camp supports its commitment to providing access to all families despite their economic background by offering generous tuition assistance for qualifying campers.

Hands-on Learning

BCAP Summer Camp prides itself on creating a summer program that both allows kids to have a good time and stimulates young minds in a meaningful way.

Kids don't need textbooks, tests, or classrooms to learn at BCAP Summer Camp. Instead, they interact with living plants and animals, create original works of art, and visit historic sites.

All BCAP Summer Camp activities are developed by professional educators, support New York State Learning Standards, and promote the exploration of new ideas through hands-on projects.

Exclusive Access

BCAP Summer Camp is the only camp in the world on a campus composed of an art museum, botanic garden, children's museum, historic house, nature center, landmarked park, state-of-the-art public library, and zoo! Campers enjoy carefully crafted curriculum led by instructors at each site, often combined with behind-the-scenes access.

85% of our campers have visited at least two of our sites before attending camp. BCAP Summer Camp allows them to do what they love on a regular basis, whether it's gardening, creating art, learning about science, or just making friends.

What makes the BCAP experience special is the opportunity to go behind the scenes and engage in each institutions programming up close and personal. BCAP forges a unique relationship between our Adventurers and our partner institutions that continues to provide benefits throughout their lifetime.

Friendship and Diversity

Having fun while learning together kindles the best kinds of friendships. Each summer BCAP builds a sense of community among the incredibly diverse groups of children we serve, based on common interests. This provides our Adventurers with opportunities to establish long lasting and meaningful connections with new friends from diverse backgrounds. Our BCAP Summer Camp Reunions help our Adventurers keep up their summer friendships long after camp is through!
